I’m halfway through my pregnancy now! I’m enjoying my second trimester SO much more than my first. Some of my food preferences has changed since being pregnant. For instance, I used to LOVE hotdogs. Now, they don’t taste that good to me. I could never get enough peanut butter on toasted bread. Now, peanut butter gives me heartburn. I rarely ate any kind of fruits before. But I think oranges are the best thing in the world now! Haha… It’s all very interesting.
Lately, I’ve started feeling Baby Kumquat move around more. I notice it when I sit very still and move my attention to my belly. It’s almost like his hand is just brushing along my inside. It’s one of the best feelings in the world to feel your baby move. Makes my heart melt into a little puddle next to my belly button….. Like when Seb holds my hand.
Here’s a picture of me at 20.5 weeks, taken today before lunch….
Current weight gain is approximately 11.9 pounds.

.
Hey, you tiny thing! You look beautiful! Only 11.9 pounds, way to go, momma. Be sure to continue eating well, OK? (I know you will!) I love the name Baby Kumquat, by the way!
It's very interesting that your body is naturally rejecting hot dogs. Did you know they're technically a no-no during pregnancy? They're one of the foods that could (on rare occasion) give you listeria, along with lunch meats. You're supposed to cook the heck out of them if you do eat one, but they're on the "no" list for most pregnant women. So I guess your body's naturally telling you that!
@bevconeal - hey beverly! You're online! How you feeling? How's Derek? I think about what you guys are doing all the time! Probably taking feeding, changing, feeding, and changing.. that's what you're doing.
Yes, i don't do lunch meat at all.. unless I throw that sh*t into the pan and cook it. And then for hot dogs, I nuke it in the microwave for a couple of minutes, OR I boil the sh*t out of that! hahhhaa... But yea... they just taste so sour and gross to me now. I also used to LOVE LOVE LOVE cheeseburgers. Now, YUCK. Too much meat, tastes like too much animal.
Other than that, I eat smaller meals, every 2 to 3 hours. I start the day with full glass of pasturized milk and a whole grain blueberry waffle. Then lunch is usually something homemade and healthy, salad along with that almost daily... So on. And then right before bed I drink another glass of milk and have another waffle for a snack. I feel like I eat a lot, AND I feel like I'm constantly eating. But I know my calories arent' very high either. So I figure, as long as I'm gaining weight, and I do eat constantly and consistanly, I 'should' be okay right? sigh~ heck, I don't know. Sometimes all this is very confusing to me if I'm doing it all right.
@bevconeal - oooh, and Seb named the baby Kumquat .. I have no idea where he gets these ideas. And then when we first learned we were pregnant on our 1st try, Seb said, "Yeah, my zing-zing is potent!" haha...
You look fantastic! Aww halfway there! I can't wait, so excited for you!!!!
Coffee and Meat were the first to go when I was pregnant. I remember commenting to Phil last summer as I could smell other people BBQ'ing steaks that I could vaugely remember drooling when smelling a BBQ... but at that point it just made me want to throw up. Now I love meat again and I can barely remember the smell making me sick!
I was a fruitaholic too. Mmm, watermelon and strawberries were the best things ever!!! Although my cravings changed. I remember I wanted anything lime. I'd have lime jello, virgin margaritas, I'd even suck on slices of lime from other people's drinks! LOL
I love "baby kumquat" as well! Very original!
u look great! Hope rest of ur pregnancy will be a breeze!!!
@Elewen - it's funny how craving change. I find this whole thing very interesting. I have the same feeling as you about meat too... I don't like most of the meaty stuff right now. They just don't taste right. I prefer liquids and lots of fruits.
